Watoto Bbira Villiage
Summary:
A 20,000 liter solar powered drinking water system was installed in Bbira Village, allowing for 500 children to be fed each day; the water system provides villagers with a source of soft, high quality water, and reduces dependence on wells and other sources. . This project will promote healthy living for 500 children and improve the quality of life for 5,000 people in the surrounding communities.
Impact:
This project promotes healthy living for 500 children and improve the quality of life for 5,000 people in the surrounding communities. Safe water access in the community empowered villagers to work, go to school, and experience relief from the stress of mere survival simply by having year-round access to clean, potable water.
This project also reduced the community's dependence on rainfall, eliminated fear of drought or famine, and increased irrigated agriculture. The production of crops increased which in turn has increased Bbira community’s overall food supply.
