ROTOM Outreach Centre – Lyabirengye Village
Summary:
Impact:
While the area has many water sources, many of these were inaccessible to a large portion of the community. Nearly half of the community cannot afford to use the local water taps. Because of this, many area residents have to travel long distances to collect water every day, which can be strenuous and risky. In this environment, the community's elders are especially vulnerable.
A water system at the Outreach Centre will allow the Centre to provide safe water access for more than 2400 community members. In particular, the water system will benefit more than three hundred elders in the community who rely on the Centre for medical support, as water access will allow the Centre to provide safer and more effective medical care.
