Shelter Them Uganda

Shelter Them was started by Jules Higiro, a past soldier who helped end the genocide of Tutsis in 1994. After seeing the aftermath, Jules made it his mission to help the abandoned children who were trying to survive the streets of Kigali. What is special about Shelter Them is that they are not only focused on aid but also empowering children with tools needed to design their own future. They integrate the orphans into families and provide health care and a safe environment where they may grow healthy and thrive.

International Needs has been working to free children, families and communities from the cruelty of poverty and injustice. As a Christian development organization, they want to help the weakest among us reach his or her full potential. They build relationships with local leaders and work with them to improve the quality of life in their community.

Their main focus is sustainability. Their programs and initiatives must fit naturally with the communities we serve and have a positive long-term impact on the health and well-being of the community.
